March Challenge ~ Day 10 + 11: THE LYRICS TO YOUR CURRENT FAVORITE SONG.

Definitely: This is me.
From «The greatest Showman»
Performed by Keala Settle…

Although it didn’t win the Oscar for best original song, Keala won the Internet’s praise for her powerful performance… This is inspirational, this is energetic, this is breathtaking, this is beautiful: THIS IS ME.

I am not a stranger to the dark
Hide away, they say
‘Cause we don’t want your broken parts
I’ve learned to be ashamed of all my scars
Run away, they say
No one’ll love you as you are

But I won’t let them break me down to dust
I know that there’s a place for us
For we are glorious

When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I’m gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
I am brave, I am bruised
I am who I’m meant to be, this is me
Look out ’cause here I come
And I’m marching on to the beat I drum
I’m not scared to be seen
I make no apologies, this is me

Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh, oh

Another round of bullets hits my skin
Well, fire away ’cause today, I won’t let the shame sink in
We are bursting through the barricades and
Reaching for the sun (we are warriors)
Yeah, that’s what we’ve become (yeah, that’s what we’ve become)

I won’t let them break me down to dust
I know that there’s a place for us
For we are glorious

When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I’m gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
I am brave, I am bruised
I am who I’m meant to be, this is me
Look out ’cause here I come
And I’m marching on to the beat I drum
I’m not scared to be seen
I make no apologies, this is me

Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh, oh
This is me

and I know that I deserve your love
(Oh-oh-oh-oh) ’cause there’s nothing I’m not worthy of
(Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh, oh)
When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I’m gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
This is brave, this is proof
This is who I’m meant to be, this is me

Look out ’cause here I come (look out ’cause here I come)
And I’m marching on to the beat I drum (marching on, marching, marching on)
I’m not scared to be seen
I make no apologies, this is me

When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I’m gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
I’m gonna send a flood
Gonna drown them out
Oh –
This is me

This is my humble attempt to duet with Keala! 🙂 Enjoy…

March Challenge ~ Day 8: INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

I’M A WOMAN – Cher/RaquelWelch

… Well, besides washing, feed the baby and grease the car, may I say, that comparing to those lyrics of 1962 there are a couple of extra things we need to do also by ourselves nowadays: independent thinking, wield a drill, fix a hem, check the tire pressure aaaaand cooking barefoot is only one of several superpowers. At work we need to be strong, fierce, smart, crafty courageous, need to carry out work on three different projects, answering the phone while greeting visitors in a busy reception area, managing several social media accounts while working on email marketing tasks, preparing a lecture, prioritizing complaints in a customer service office or processing closing documents for a variety of real estate deals… And yes, I’m fully aware that these are just a few of the things!

We are action, emotion, devotion. We have hope, beauty, power…

… Think like a queen. A queen is not afraid to fail. Failure is another steppingstone to greatness – Oprah Winfrey

March Challenge ~ Day 5: YOUR FAVOURITE (FEMALE) WRITER

Definitely: Jane Austen. Though her humour is different from the way people joke around today, her writing has an ironic and humorous twist to it.

And I love the way she is constructing her characters… There is something enduring about them, especially the young women, that makes them special and readable. They’re intelligent, talented and scintillatingly witty. While Janes men own the best character traits and I admit, I punctually fall in love either with Mr Knightley, so kind and compassionate or with Mr Darcy, even if he seems to be so aloof and pride… And definitely I adore colonel Brandon: true, reliable and absolutely fond!
